CORSET FACTS

Today the love and fascination of corsets continues to rise. There is nothing more appealing than an hourglass silhouette.

Velvet Vyxen corsets are designed to be worn by a wide array of individuals and groups. We cater to women, men and to the transgender community.

Be assured that a Velvet Vyxen corset will always be constructed with quality steel boning, binding and busk. Our corsets are handmade by skilled corsetieres who have specialized in their tradition for many years.
Our attention to detail and our beautiful craftsmanship will give many years of wear and functionality to the garment.

A well-made corset should compress only the waist and be very comfortable to wear with a pleasant hugging sensation. The first few times a new corset is worn it should not be laced too tightly. Each new corset needs a break in period where the material will gently conform to your body. Then the corset may be laced tighter. This will keep the corset material and grommets from becoming damaged.

If you plan to wear your corset often a simple camisole undergarment can be worn to protect the garment from body oils and perspiration. We have several to choose from in our lingerie section.

HOW TO SELECT THE PROPER SIZE

Women, Men & Transgender

Our corsets are sold in regular sizes 18 inches up to 32 inches. In order to know what size you should order measure the narrowest part of your waist not pulling too tightly on the tape measure and then subtract 4 inches. So if your waist measures 28 inches you would need to order a size 24 inch in your corset.

Women, Men & Transgender Plus Sizes

For those who measure 34 inches up to 50 inches please, order your corsets 6 inches smaller than the narrowest part of your waist, again making sure not to pull the tape measure too tightly. So if you measure 38 inches than you would order a size 32 inch in your corset.

Velvet Vyxen cannot be held responsible for incorrect measurements submitted by the customer so please be sure to measure very carefully.

How To Take Care of Your Corset

Don’ts

Don’t spot clean as a watermark may be created on the material.

Don’t wash a corset in a washing machine.

Don’t dry a corset in a dryer.

Don’t store in sunlight as the material may weaken and fade.

Don’t hang on a metal hanger as this may create a ridge and/or rust stains.

Do’s

Check any labels for appropriate care instructions.

When in doubt only use a professional dry cleaner to clean the corset.

Do store on a soft colorfast hanger or lightly folded and stored in a drawer. Either way make sure that the corset is protected so that cramped quarters, moths or the colors from other items will not cause permanent damage.
